The multimedia artist and audiovisual expert, Virginia Villaplana, in collaboration with the consonni collective, are presenting the Soft Fiction project at the 51st ZINEBI Festival. This is a multidisciplinary proposition that has been developed somewhere between fictionalisation and the concept of the documentary based on the film of the same name directed in 1979 by the American filmmaker, Chick Strand. This project considers the various artistic devices that make it possible to structure and put into circulation many of the narrative clichés and images about female erotic and sexual fantasies, not only through the images themselves but also through the media that gender narratives influence, such as audiovisual technologies, cinema, novels, music and the experimental essay etc. The project includes workshops, debates, screenings in the street and performances. As part of Soft Fiction, as well as the aforementioned film, you can also see films like Boy Meets Girl (Eugenia Balcells, Spain, 1978), Mujer trama (Virginia Villaplana, Spain, 1997), Sink or Swin (Su Friedrich, USA, 1990) and November (Hito Steyerl, Germany, 2004). This section includes film screenings in the open air, on the junction of the Calles Torre and Pelota in the Old Quarter, for which the bars and restaurants in the area have provided their help.
Screening venues: the Museum of Fine Art Auditorium, Bilborock and the Calles Torre and Pelota in the Old Quarter
