FANT 2005

1. FANT PREMIÈRES

The programme includes the following full-length film premières:

PRIMER (Shane Carruth, USA, 2004)
This film won the Sundance 2004 Award for Best Director and Script, surprising the film world with a result on low resources and the strength of imagination of its narrative and visual invention.

CSA (Confederate States of America) (Kevin Willmott, USA, 2004)
A 'false' documentary that employs humour and terror to tell the story of an America in which the South wins the Civil War.

LES REVENANTS (Robin Campillo, France, 2004)
A different, terrifying version of the zombie cinema classic with a very original twist.

RAMONES: END OF THE CENTURY (Jim Fields, Michael Gramaglia, USA, 2003)
Since the US première of this documentary on one of the most representative groups of North American punk rock, three of its members have died, including Johnny Ramone, who was a self-declared fan of Roger Corman’s work and grade-Z horror films.

HAIR HIGH (Bill Plympton, USA, 2004)
Together with this full-length film by the cruel but tender Plympton, which won the Best Animation Film Award at Animamadrid 2004, we will show his latest short, GUARD DOG, candidate at the last edition of the Oscar Awards for the Best Short Animation.

KONTROLL (Nimrod Antal, Hungary, 2003)
One of the surprises from contemporary Hungarian cinema. A dark, terrifying and consuming thriller that has won awards all over Europe: Cannes (Award of the Youth), Copenhagen (Best Script and Director), Hungary (Best Actor, Script, Critics’ Award...), Warsaw (Filmgoers’ Award), etc.

AFTER THE DAY BEFORE (Attila Janish, Hungary, 2004)
The terrible murder of a young woman told in a fragmented way and from a variety of time lines has turned this contemporary Hungarian film into one of the most brilliant narrative experiments of recent European cinema. Lynch’s influence is there to be seen...

TEMPUS FUGIT (Enric Folch, Spain, 2003)
Funny, original, fantastic, this Catalonian TV-movie is pure delight, a story filled with ingenuity on the classic subject of time travel. It has already received awards at the fantastic film festivals of Amsterdam, Monte Carlo, Sweden and Great Britain, among others.
